One foot-mounted casing with six interchangeable shaft positions — centre distances 30 to 100 mm, ratios 5:1 to 70:1.
Six Shaft Positions
The Adaptable is the gearbox for machine builders who do not yet know which way the drive will face. The same foot-mounted casing accepts six interchangeable shaft positions, so input and output can be set left, right, up, or down without a different model number. Centre distances run 30 mm to 100 mm with ratios from 5:1 to 70:1. Where a standard catalogue box would force a redesign of the machine frame, the Adaptable is turned to suit the frame instead.
Engineering Data
The Adaptable sizes Anand Gears builds as standard. Power and torque at your duty point are confirmed at the budgetary-offer stage.
| Adaptable Size | Centre Distance (mm) | Ratio Range | Typical Duty |
|---|---|---|---|
| AD 30 | 30 | 5:1 – 70:1 | Small automation, indexing, valve and damper drives |
| AD 42 | 42 | 5:1 – 70:1 | Light conveyors, packaging machinery |
| AD 50 | 50 | 5:1 – 70:1 | Conveyors, small mixers, gate drives |
| AD 55 | 55 | 5:1 – 70:1 | Packaging and process machinery |
| AD 60 | 60 | 5:1 – 70:1 | Conveyors, dosing drives, textile machinery |
| AD 72 | 72 | 5:1 – 70:1 | Mixers, material handling |
| AD 84 | 84 | 5:1 – 70:1 | Heavier mixers and process drives |
| AD 100 | 100 | 5:1 – 70:1 | Largest Adaptable frame, heavy continuous duty |
A machine frame is usually fixed before the drive is chosen. Because the Adaptable's input and output can be set in six positions on the same foot, one gearbox suits a left-hand or right-hand build, and a machine can be mirrored for a different site without a second drawing. It also cuts spares: a single Adaptable on the shelf covers several machines that face different ways.
Built To Order
Beyond the six standard shaft positions, these are the Adaptable variants Anand Gears builds as routine work.
Supplied complete with an electric motor, coupled and aligned in our works so the unit arrives ready to bolt down and wire.
Hollow input with an IEC flange face so a standard B5 motor bolts straight on — no coupling, no alignment on site.
Plain keyed output shaft, or a hollow bore that slides onto the driven shaft with a torque arm taking the reaction.
Output shaft extended both sides of the casing to drive two elements at the same speed from one gearbox.
Shaft ends and fasteners in stainless with food-grade oil for wet and washdown areas — see our food processing gearboxes.
Manual override for gate, damper, and fence drives, where the machine must be moved by hand when the power is off.
Where It Runs
Where the six-position casing earns its keep.
Form-fill-seal, capping and labelling machines, where the drive side changes between machine variants.
Belt and roller conveyors — the same gearbox serves a left-hand and a right-hand line.
Self-locking worm mesh holds the gate in position, with a handwheel or clutch for manual release.
Slow stirring duty in food, chemical and paint plants.
Spinners, looms and reelers where the drive must fit around a crowded frame.
Repeat quantities to a fixed drawing, with the shaft ends held to the OEM's own dimensions.
Replacing an imported unit
If the failed unit is an imported adaptable-type worm gearbox, send the nameplate and the mounting dimensions. Anand Gears will match the centre distance, ratio, shaft ends, and foot pattern so the replacement fits the existing frame. Because we cut the worm and wheel in our own works, a worn gear pair can also be replaced on its own instead of buying a complete gearbox.
Budgetary offer — Adaptable Worm Gearboxes
Power, input speed, and either the ratio or the output speed you need are usually enough to start. Our engineers reply on the same working day.
